DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team jumped out to a 19-2 lead over Dubuque in the first 7:42, as they beat the Spartans 66-56.  It was the fourth win in a row for the Kohawks, as they improved to 2-0 in the Iowa Conference.

Six different Kohawks scored in the first 7:42 of the game during the 19-2 Coe run.  After Coe went ahead 4-0, Heather Taylor scored for the Spartans to cut the lead in half.  Coe then scored 15 straight points over the next 5:36 to bust the game open.

The Spartans cut the lead to 15 with 6:49 to play, but Coe went on a 10-0 run, with five different players scoring a field goal in the stretch, to take a 38-13 lead with 1:51 left in the first half.  The Kohawks took a 40-17 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.

A pair of layups by freshman Megan Hayes (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) and senior Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) put Coe up 44-17, its largest lead of the game, with 17:42 to play.  The Spartans made their run at the Kohawks following the Waskow layup.  Aimee Reyzer scored a layup and the free throw after being fouled to spark a 16-4 run over the next 5:27, cutting Coe's lead to 48-33.

Following a pair of free throws by Waskow, Reyzer again ignited a Spartan run, this time 11-2 over the next 3:07 to cut the lead to eight for the first time since the 16:17 mark of the first half.  Leading 52-44 with 7:48 to play, Coe went on a 9-0 run in just over a minute, as the lead was pushed back to double digits, where it remained for the rest of the game.

Waskow hit a jumper and a 3-pointer with 4:30 to play, as Coe's lead was extended to 18.  Those would be the final points for the Kohawks, as the Spartans scored the final eight points of the game.

Two Kohawks scored in double figures, led by Waskow's second 20 point game of the week.  She finished with 22 points, while Hayes added 10.  Senior Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) had nine points, while sophomore Mackenzie Reed (Iowa City, Iowa/West) added eight.  Reyzer led the Spartans with 16 points, while Heather Taylor dropped in 15.
