EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College senior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) led all scorers with 19 points and matched a career-high with 17 rebounds, driving the Red Devils to a 76-34 non-conference rout of USCAA Silver Lake, Saturday afternoon at the Reagan Center.

The Red Devils (6-1) opened the contest with a 15-0 run and kept the Lakers (6-5) off the scoreboard until Diamond Richardson's basket at the 14:08 mark of the first half.  Eureka dominated throughout the half and took its biggest lead in the first 20 minutes when junior guard Kourtney Ewald (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa H.S./IVCC) hit a 3-pointer in the final minute of the half for a 38-10 advantage.  Eureka forced 20 Silver Lake turnovers in the first half and scored 26 of their 38 points in the first half following an SLC turnover.

Eureka put the game further out of reach with a quick start to the second half, using a 12-2 run over the first 5-minutes, 41-seconds to claim a 50-12 advantage.  The Red Devils' lead ballooned to as many as 47 points on a fastbreak layup by freshman guard Jenna Brooks (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) for a 61-16 advantage with 10:34 to play.

Brown was a force inside for the Red Devils, going 7-for-12 from the field.  Nine of her 17 rebounds were at the offensive end of the floor.  Sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds and a game-high four steals.  The Red Devils finished the game with 67 rebounds, matching their season-high set on Dec. 7 at Lincoln Christian and again narrowly missing the single-game program record of 70.  The 34 points allowed by the Red Devils marked their best defensive effort since limiting Lincoln Christian to 27 points on Feb. 9, 2011.

All 16 healthy Red Devils logged minutes, including the debuts of newcomers Jay Stewart (Taylorville, Ill./Taylorville H.S./Illinois State) and Kelsey Shoemake (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.).  Stewart scored nine points and pulled down five rebounds in 14 minutes of action, while Shoemake compiled seven points, six boards and two blocked shots.  Sophomore guard Ashley Segerstrom (LeRoy, Ill./LeRoy H.S.) also made her debut on Saturday after missing the first 30 games of her collegiate career with various injuries.

Lyndsay Holshbach and Ariele Flores scored seven points apiece to pace the Lakers.  Silver Lake shot 23 percent (14-for-57) from the field, 38 percent (6-for-16) from the free throw line and missed all 12 of its 3-point attempts for the game.

Saturday's victory improves Eureka to 6-1 on the season, the best start on record in program history.  The Red Devils will now begin a nine-day hiatus from game competition for the Christmas holiday before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 27 against Concordia (Wis.) as part of the second annual D3Hoops.com Classic at South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
