Lady Choctaws Fall to Concordia Texas, 69-53

AUSTIN, TX - The Mississippi College women's basketball team split their conference road trip with a 69-53 loss to Concordia Texas on Saturday afternoon at the CTX Fieldhouse.

The Lady Choctaws dropped to 4-4 on the season and 4-3 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Tornados stayed unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the league.

MC jumped out to an early lead on the strength of their free throw shooting with their first field goal coming from freshman Madelyn Cross with 11:56 to go in the first half.  Overall in the frame, the Lady Choctaws went 15-15 from the foul line.

The Tornados made five three-pointers in the first half and took a 42-33 lead into the halftime break.

The Concordia defense stepped up in the second half as they built the lead.  The Tornados forced 29 MC turnovers and held the Lady Choctaws to just 35% (17-49) shooting from the floor.

Junior Elizabeth Brooks came off the bench for the second straight game to score 12 points and lead MC.  Junior Traci Rodgers scored 10 points for the Lady Choctaws.

Junior Ebony Williams and Cross led the team with nine rebounds apiece.

Shamika Singleton led CTX with nine points and nine rebounds.  Lashanda Luckey and Tiesha Martin also scored nine for the Tornados.

The Lady Choctaws will be off until after Christmas when they will travel to Montgomery, AL to face Oglethorpe and Centre on December 29th and 30th.
