The No. 14 women's basketball team cruised to a 69-38 victory over WIAC foe UW-Stout behind a career night by junior Nikki Guhr (Muskego, WI, Muskego).

Guhr was electric, totally a career-high 21 points while shooting 10-15 from field goal range.  Her previous career high was 17 against UW-Eau Claire on Feb. 23, 2011.

As a team, the Falcons put on a strong shooting performance, finishing 24-50 for 48 percent.  Stout was ice cold, compiling a 13-52 performance for a dismal 25 percent.

The Falcon defense was ironclad.  No Stout player scored more than five points.  Not only was the 31-point victory the largest margin for the undefeated Falcons, but it was also a banner night by holding Stout to a mere 38 points, the lowest total in any of the Falcons' nine games.  The largest lead the Falcons had was 34 with 3:00 remaining in the game.

The lowest point total the Falcons had allowed prior to the Stout game was 44 against UW-Oshkosh on Dec. 10.  Coincidentally, that game was also the Falcons' largest margin of victory until this point, 27, in a 71-44 victory over the Titans.

The Falcons had 12 different players score at least one point in a complete team performance.  Tiffany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) set a career high with eight assists. Her previous career high was seven, which was also against Stout on Jan. 22, 2011.  She also contributed 12 points on a 5-9 shooting performance.  Alise Holst (Plainview, MN, Plainview-Elgin-Millville) added 11 points for the Falcons, who are now 9-0 on the season.

Brittany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) led the rebounding charge.  She finished with a season's best 11.  As a team, the Falcons out-rebounded the Blue Devils 37-31.  Her 11 rebounds matched a career-high as she also had 11 rebounds on Feb. 20, 2010 against Platteville.

The Falcons are now 9-0 overall and soar to 3-0 in the WIAC.  Stout meanwhile, falls to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in the WIAC.  The Falcons hold a 41-37 advantage over Stout in the all time series.

Up next for the Falcons is a home contest against Simpson College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Karges Center.

Earlier this season, the Falcons defeated Simpson 79-73 at the Luther Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 18.  It was the second game of the season for UWRF.

UWRF came into this game ranked No. 14 in the latest d3hoops.com poll.  Simpson, while not ranked in the top 25, did receive a few votes.
