Tommies run win streak to seven, edge Oles

Sophomore forward Taylor Young scored a career-high 27 points, including 11-of-11 at the foul line, as the visiting Tommies (7-1 overall, 5-0 MIAC) moved into a share of the MIAC women's basketball lead with Tuesday nigh's 62-57 road win over the previously-unbeaten Oles (7-1, 4-1) in Northfield.

St. Thomas sank 20-of-23 at the foul line as its ran its winning streak to seven and matched Bethel's 5-0 MIAC start.

Ali Johnson and Sarah Smith each scored 10 points for UST., which shot 52 percent from the floor.

UST trailed 36-30 early in the second half, but used a 20-6 run to build a 50-42 lead with 6:14 left. The Oles climbed back to cut the lead to two at 54-52 but never got closer than four points in the final 2:45.

St. Olaf, which sank seven 3-pointers, converted 54 percent from the field on the game. Eileen O'Donoghue score a team-best 14 points.

The Tommies are off the next 19 days and are home Jan. 2 to face St. Ben's.
