NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 10, 2011 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team shot 47.5% from the floor en route to a 74-51 win over the University of Maine-Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at the Hogan Sports Center.

The Chargers improve to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the NAC. UMF falls to 2-7 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

Colby-Sawyer's Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, Mass.) led all scorers with 23 points on 10-19 shooting. Junior Cailin Bullett (Millbury, Mass.) added 19 points and a game-high nine assists. She is now tied for 8th in Colby-Sawyer history for career assists with 264. Junior Stephanie Larpenter (Sunapee, N.H.) had eight points in 10 minutes off the bench.

The Beavers were led by a 13-point, seven rebound performance from freshman Lindsay Ranquist (Owls Head, Maine). Junior Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) had 12 points on 4-7 shooting off the bench. Junior Rachel Clement (Gray, Maine) put in a solid effort with nine points, six rebounds and a game-high two blocks.

Clement got the visitors on the board first with a three pointer, but once the Chargers hit a pair of buckets the home team stayed in front for the remainder of the game. Colby-Sawyer shot 60% from the floor in the first half, which included 6-12 from beyond the arc. They also controlled the paint in the offensive zone by scoring 20 points.

The Chargers shot just 34.5% in the second, but turned up the defense and allowed the Beavers to shoot only 24.2%. Colby-Sawyer pushed its lead to 24 at the 13:17 mark of the frame, but UMF battled back with a 17-4 run to cut the deficit to 11. That is as close as the visitors would get because they were held to one basket for the last seven minutes of the contest.

Both teams are off until January 6.
