LADY COUGARS LOSE TO CONFERENCE RIVAL BC BULLDOGS

Brooklyn, NY- The Lady Cougars lost to boro and conference rival Brooklyn College Bulldogs 71-19 on Tuesday Nov.29, 2011. The loss dropped MEC to 0-5 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC while the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 Overall and 1-0 CUNYAC.

The Lady Cougars played close basketball with Brooklyn College. BC opened with a 2-0 lead before a 3pt. shot by Freshman Guard Tiffany Woodbine made the score 3-2 MEC with 18:04 to go in the 1st half. BC would take over scoring a 19-0 run with spanned 11 minutes. BC would lead by 39pts to end the half (46-7). The Lady Cougars shot very poorly (10.7%) from the field and 33.3% from 3pt. range (1-3). BC shot 46.2% from the field, 40% from 3pt. range, and 57.1% from the free throw line. MEC only had 2 players that scored buckets. Senior Forward Chantal Biscette scored 4pts and grabbed 7 rebounds and Freshman Guard Tiffany Woodbine scored 3pts, tallied a rebound and 2 steals. BC was led by Charnelle St. Laurent with 10pts.

The 2nd half was all Bulldogs. They led by as much as 54pts and didn't allow MEC to score in the paint. MEC shot a little better in the half, shooting 15.8% from the field, 20% from 3pt. range, and 45.5% from the free throw line. BC shot 41.4% from the field and 50% from the free throw line (1-2). MEC was led in the half by Chantal Biscette. Biscette scored 5pts and grabbed 5 rebounds. BC was led by Asia Foster and Ashley McCaughan both tallying 6pts.

For the game, the Lady Cougars were led by Chantal Biscette. The Brooklyn, NY native scored 9pts and grabbed 12 rebounds. She also accumlated an assist and 2 blocks. BC was led by Ashley McCaughan who scored 13pts. Former Lady Cougar Tiffany Thompson scored 10pts. Thompson played for the Lady Cougars in the 2009-10 season.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday Nov.30, 2011 when they take on the Old Westbury Panthers at MEC. Game time is 7pm.
