BANGOR, Maine – Stephanie Comstock scored 16 points, while three of her teammates kicked in 15 to thump Maine Maritime 74-53 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams. The Eagles (1-3, 1-0 NAC) drained 10 treys in the game and scored 23 points on the Mariners' (2-3, 0-1 NAC) 27 turnovers.

Husson broke open the game with a 14-2 run that started with a Kelli Murray three that gave the Eagles a 20-18 lead midway through the first period. Comstock earned three the old-fashioned way on the Eagles next possession before Murray banged another trey followed by another from Vanessa Sanderson. A Brianna Hanscom jumper made it an 11-point game, 31-20 before MMA's Sam Goda (Eliot, Maine) stopped the bleeding, but the damage was already done.

Comstock shot seven-of-11 from the floor and two-of-three at the line to lead all scorers. Hanscom and Murray each finished the night with 15 points, as did Marissa Albert. Murray hit five-of-six shots from beyond the arc, while Albert hit on three-of-six from that range. Hanscom pulled down nine rebounds.

Goda had 13 points and nine rebounds for MMA, which outworked the Eagles 33-26 on the glass. It was the only area the Mariners outworked their guests.

Maine Maritime committed 15 unforced turnovers and only cashed in on 16-of-30 trips to the line. The Mariners had to make due with a late lineup change as starting center, Bekah Campbell (Corinth, Maine) was injured during warm-ups.

MMA  got 14 points, four rebounds and four assists from Maggie Smith (Bath, Maine). Alexis Bennett (Freedom, Maine) scored 10 and grabbed six boards.

Maine Maritime returns to action Friday night in NAC play at Green Mountain.
