Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team could not overcome another cold shooting day as the Cru fell to U.T.-Tyler 52-41 Saturday afternoon in Tyler. The loss drops the UMHB women to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in American Southwest Conference play. The Patriots improve to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the ASC with the victory.
The Cru shot just 26 percent from the field in the first half and fell behind 28-18 at halftime. UMHB battled back in the second half and took a 38-37 lead with 8:32 remaining. But Tyler would close the game with a 15-3 run, holding the Cru to just one field goal in the final eight minutes of the game.
Brittany Zamora led UMHB with 12 points before fouling out in the final minute. Macy Moore had nine points off the bench and Gabby Guzman added a team-high eight rebounds.
Lindsey Hausmann led the Patriots with 13 points. She'Cara Humphrey added 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Ten different players scored for U.T.-Tyler.
UMHB shot just 27 percent from the field in the game and went 5-19 from three-point range. U.T.-Tyler shot 37 percent for the game and out rebounded the Cru 46-35.
UMHB will now take a week off for finals before opening ASC West Division play next weekend. The UMHB women will face Concordia Texas in a 1:00 PM start in Austin next Saturday.
