Trinity Women's Basketball Escapes Lasell With Win

Newton, Mass. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams outscored the Lasell College Lasers, 15-4, over the final 4:22 of the game to turn a 54-53 deficit into a 68-58 victory in women's basketball action this evening. Trinity evens its season record at 2-2, while the Lasers drop to 0-5.

Trinity senior co-captain guard Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.) ignited the late Bantam run with a go-ahead jumper and added a pair of free throws to put Trinity ahead, 57-54, with 3:28 on the clock. Sophomore center Emily Dixon (Norwood, Mass.) scored two of her career-high 15 points, and classmate Taylor Murtaugh (Bronx, N.Y.) added two more from the charity stripe before Lasell scored its first points in almost two minutes on two foul shots by Ashley Fry (South Kingston, R.I.). Danielle Autencio (Montville, Conn.) cut the Bantam lead to three points at 61-58 moments later, but a Murtaugh answered with her only bukcet of the night and Trinity went on to score the game's final five points from the line.

Royals tied Dixon for the team lead in scoring with 15 points, while junior guard Carly Napier (Pittsford, N.Y.) added 11 points. Bantam senior co-captain guard Kaitlin Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) filled up the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists, and eight steals. Autencio paced the Lasers with 16 points and 16 boards.
