Barber was seven points away going into today's contest and eclipsed the 1,000 point mark on a free throw with 7:30 remaining in the first half. She finished the game with a team-high 18 points and five assists. Barber is the first player since Melissa Kraft in 2006 to go over 1,000 points for her career. To top the weekend off, Barber was named to the Wheaton Tip-Off All-Tournament team after scoring 31 points in two days.
Drew (2-1) controlled much of the game despite shooting just 31 percent from the field for the game. Midway through the first half the Rangers used a 9-0 run to build a 12 point lead and never looked back. The Lasers wouldn't come much closer for the rest of the contest, getting the lead down to single digits just once. The Rangers held lead of as high as 20 and cruised to their second win of the season.
Four of the five Ranger starters were in double figures with Britta Olsen (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale) tying a career-high with 12 points and eight rebounds. Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) and Whitney Mackay (Suffield, Conn./Berkshire) had 10 points apiece to pace the Rangers.
Drew will return home on Tuesday night for a non-conference tilt with Baptist Bible at 5:00 p.m.
