DE PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert College won the Baylake Bank Tip-Off Tournament for the fifth-straight year behind a career-high 30 points from senior guard Krista Pelky as the Green Knights topped UW-Superior 77-68.
The Green Knights (2-1) extended their regular-season home winning streak to 45 games with the win over the Yellowjackets (2-1). St. Norbert is now 10-0 all-time in the tournament and has beaten a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe in each of the last nine seasons.
St. Norbert shot 68.4 percent (13-for-19) from the floor in the second half to pull away from Superior. The Green Knights led 41-37 with 16 minutes 13 seconds left before going on a 9-0 run to take a 50-37 lead with 14:12 to go. Superior answered with a 7-0 run of its own to get back into the game at 50:44 with 10:59.
The Green Knights then went back ahead by 13 on a 10-3 run to lead 60-47 with 7:28 to go. St. Norbert then went cold, scoring just 10 points over the next five minutes as the Yellowjackets pulled to within 67-64 with 3:14 to go on a Connie Urmanski 3-pointer. The Green Knights held off Superior by keeping them without a field goal for the rest of the game.
Pelky's 30 points was a tournament record, and her 17 made free throws set a school record. Pelky finished 17-for-19 at the free-throw line and was named the tournament's most valuable player. Jamie Kuhl finished with 16 points, and Tasha Giese added 15 points and were both named to the all-tournament team. St. Norbert finished 21-for-41 (51.2 percent) from the floor and was 30-for-36 (83.3 percent) at the free-throw line.
Superior was led by Connie Urmanski's 19 points. The Yellowjackets shot 36.9 percent (24-for-65) from the floor.
