SWARTHMORE, Pa. (November 19, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team held the Wheelock College to just 12 points as they earned their first win of the season with a 68-12 whipping of the Wildcats. 10 different Ducks scored in the game, led by Avis Benjamin (Queens, N.Y.) and Victoria Webber (Silver Spring, Md.), who had 16 points apiece. The outcome was never in doubt as the Ducks scored the first 11 points of the game, then after allowing the first Wheelock bucket reeled off another 17 consecutive points to lead 28-2. The teams traded baskets at that point as the first half ended with a 30-4 Stevens advantage. The second half was much of the same, with the Ducks scoring the first 18 points of the period. Saturday's matchup also saw the inspiring return of injured senior Isa Guzman (Union City, N.J.), who – though recovering from shoulder surgery – was able to step up and take one free throw attempt to score her first point of the season. Stevens will be back in action on Sunday in the finals of the Swarthmore Invitational, where they will take on the host Garnett at 3 p.m. Remember to like us at www.facebook.com/stevensathletics.
