(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver (Morning View, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored a team-high 12 points to lead the No. 1-ranked and No. 1 seeded Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 66-54 win over No. 5 seed Grove City College tonight (Friday, February 25, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament semifinal game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 27-0 and advance to the PAC Tournament Championship game tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center where they will play No. 14-rank and No. 2 seed Saint Vincent College. Saint Vincent was a 70-53 winner over No. 3 seed Waynesburg in the semifinal match tonight. With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 14-13.
Thomas More jumped out to an early 21-8 lead when sophomore guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a three-pointer at the 7:44 mark of the first half. Grove City answered with a 15-0 run capped by a three-pointer by Megan Gebrosky to take a 23-21 lead with 3:01 to play in the first half. The Saint closed out the half on a 4-0 run to take a 25-23 halftime lead when Long made a lay-up with 1:01 to play in the half.
The Saints opened the second half on a 32-11 run to extend the lead to 57-34 with 6:46 to play in the game when sophomore forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) made a lay-up. The Wolverines closed the game on a 20-9 run capped by a jumper by Christine Slater with three-seconds to play in the game, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game 66-54.
Joining Tolliver in double-figure scoring were Long with 11 points and Kees with 10. Freshman forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler ) led the team on the boards with eight rebounds, while freshman guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with eight.
