Women’s Hoops Powers Past McDaniel 64-35

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg tuned up for the Centennial Conference Tournament by routing McDaniel College 64-35 in women's hoops action inside Bream Gym on Saturday.

Gettysburg (19-6, 14-6 CC) tied the third-best win total in school history and will move on to the conference tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins University next weekend (Feb. 26-27). The Bullets enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed and face No. 2 Muhlenberg College (19-5, 15-4 CC) at a time yet to be determined next Saturday.

Senior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) took on the scoring load for the hosts with a game-high 18 points. She was 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line, adding five rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Alyssa Oursler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) turned in her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, while freshman Katie Earley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) and junior Lauren Dadigan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) turned in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Following a 4-4 tie at 16:40, Gettysburg ran off a 26-5 run culminating in a Moser three-pointer from the wing which made it 30-9 with 4:28 left in the opening half. Dadigan closed the first half with a pair of free throws to put the Bullets up 32-15 at halftime.

Gettysburg's lead never dipped below 15 points in the second half as the defense stepped up to hold the Green Terror without a point over the final 7:40. McDaniel's final point total tied its lowest output against the Bullets in the last four decades.

The Bullets finished 25-of-59 from the field (42.4 percent) and out-rebounded McDaniel 43-31 with 14 caroms on the offensive glass. Gettysburg committed only 10 turnovers while dishing out 16 assists.

Whitney Snoops notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Meredith Larsen and Cara Thompson each posted 10 points.
