Young players tead Albion to MIAA victory

ALBION, Mich. – Patty Rewa scored eight of her game-high 20 points during a 17-4 run as Albion College rallied from a seven-point deficit to defeat Kalamazoo College, 64-51, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Albion struggled to solve Kalamazoo's zone defense for much of the night and it trailed 39-32 with less than 15 minutes to play. First-year players Brett de Bear and Madeline Winters and Rewa made baskets as Albion pulled to within one, 42-41, at the midway point of the second half.

Tanner Johnson gave Albion the lead for good with a 3-point goal to make the score 50-47 with 6 ½ minutes to play. Rewa added two baskets and a pair of free throws as the margin ballooned to 11, 60-49, with 2:22 on the clock.

Rewa completed her 10th double-double of the season by grabbing 11 rebounds. Johnson and Keigan Edwards  finished with 10 points apiece.

Michelle Maiuri led Kalamazoo with 16 points.
