INDIANOLA - Stacey Schutjer and Kate Nielsen combined for 38 points and 17 rebounds as Simpson beat Buena Vista 92-75 on Wednesday night.

Schutjer finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the Storm (19-5, 13-2 Iowa Conference). Nielsen scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half, adding nine rebounds and four steals.

The win ensures Simpson no worse than the second seed in the upcoming conference tournament. With one game remaining in the regular season, the Storm need a win and a Coe loss to gain the top seed and home court advantage.

Simpson built a 43-32 lead at halftime, shooting better than 51 percent from the field. Amy Hamilton scored nine of her 11 points in the first period, going 3-for-4 from 3-point range.

Hamilton's last triple gave her career 3 number 231, leaving her five shy of tying Simpson's all-time record of 236, set by Carlie Beals in 2008. She is also 20 points away from becoming the 13th member of Simpson's 1,000-point club.

Jess Christensen scored 17 points and Jahde Hammer added 16 for the Beavers (11-13, 7-8), who were swept by Simpson in the season series. The Storm won 78-77 on Jan. 17 in Storm Lake.

Simpson got off to a slow start, trailing by seven in the early going. But Hamilton turned up the heat in the final 7:22 of the first half, turning a 28-28 game into an 11-point, halftime lead by hitting all three of her 3s as part of a 15-4 Simpson run.

Nielsen helped put the game out of reach, scoring 11 points during a 13-0 run early in the second half, opening a 21-point lead.

Simpson closes the regular season Saturday, hosting Cornell in a 2 p.m. tipoff at Cowles Fieldhouse. Simpson beat the Rams (7-15, 2-13) 80-54 in the first meeting.

A win ensures the Storm their seventh-straight 20-win season.
