Devils Tame Owls With Strong Defensive Effort

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team held visiting Bryn Mawr to just four points in the opening half, en route to a 58-22 win on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Owls scored just 1:47 into the contest before the Red Devil defense held them scoreless until the 8:37 mark. A pair of Nicolette Parmese free throws made the score 13-4 at that point. Dickinson closed out the half with a 12-0 run to lead 25-4 at the break.

 

The second half brought much of the same as the Red Devils stretched the lead to 44-8 in the first eight minutes of the second half. They held their biggest advantage of the afternoon at the 6:28 mark, leading 54-16.

 

Parmese led Bryn Mawr (0-21, 0-16) with a game-high 12 points while Jackie Handy controlled 13 rebounds.

 

Sophomore Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led the way for the Red Devils with 11 points and five steals. Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) recorded a team-high nine rebounds, adding six points and seven steals. Sophomore Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) tallied eight points, two assists, a steal and a block while Kelsey Barclay (New York, N.Y./Loyola School) chipped in with four points and four steals.

 

The Red Devils improve to 9-13 overall and 7-11 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Wednesday night, hosting Gettysburg College at 6:00 pm.
