Bears Hold Off Devils for Seventh Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team suffered a 44-33 setback to visiting Ursinus College on Saturday. The Red Devils shot just 26 percent from the field and an uncharacteristic 50 percent from the free throw line.

 

The Devils came out strong, building an 11-3 lead in the opening six minutes of the game. Ursinus answered with a 14-4 run to tie the game, 17-17, with 6:05 on the clock. The Bears continued to stretch their lead, outscoring the Devils 8-0 to hold a 25-17 advantage at halftime.

 

Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) made a pair of steals and helped the Devils pull within 25-23 in the opening four minutes of the second half. The Bears rallied again, stretching the margin to eight, 33-25, with 11:56 remaining in the game.

 

Ursinus extended its lead to double-figures with just under seven minutes to play and held on as they improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference.

 

Sisco finished with a game-high 18 points, recording a double-double with 12 rebounds. She was perfect from the floor, hitting all six shots and added four steals on the afternoon. Senior Annie O'Donnell (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) came off the bench to add four steals and control four rebounds. Sophomore Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) chipped in with three points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.

 

Lindsay Teuber led Ursinus with 13 points and 12 rebounds, adding three assists and two steals. Diamond Lewis tallied 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.

 

The Red Devils slip to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the Centennial Conference. The travel to Eastern University for a 4:00 tip-off on Monday, December 20th.
