ATLANTA -- Dana Kaplan scored a career-high 19 points to lead the seventh-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team to an 81-62 win over Emory University in University Athletic Association play Sunday afternoon.
With its 15th consecutive victory, Chicago (19-3 overall, 11-0 UAA) expanded its conference lead over second-place Washington (Mo.) University to two games with three left to play. Washington dropped a 71-61 decision Sunday at the University of Rochester.
Chicago, which never trailed, controlled the game from the outset. The Maroons built a 47-32 halftime advantage and led by as many as 27 points in the second stanza.
Kaplan, who was 4-for-4 from three-point range, was one of five Maroons to finish in double figures.
Bryanne Halfhill tallied 12 points, while Meghan Herrick added 11. Morgan Herrick and Taylor Simpson each scored 10 points.
Simpson grabbed nine rebounds as the Maroons posted a 49-28 edge on the boards.
Becca Feldman led the Eagles (9-13, 2-9) with 14 points.
The Maroons conclude the home portion of their 2010-11 regular season schedule next week with games against Brandeis University Friday at 6 p.m. and New York University Sunday at 2 p.m.
