FERRUM, Va. -- The eighth-ranked Captains (20-3, 14-2) got tremendous individual performances in an impressive team win today, as CNU posted a 20-win season for the fifth straight year with a 95-72 win at Ferrum College (15-8, 11-5). Seniors Jessica Moore and Barbara Davis were dominant up front for CNU, as Moore set a career-high with 31 points and Davis hauled in a career-high 20 rebounds.

Four players finished in double figures for CNU, as Moore's 31 led the way on an efficient 12-18 shooting. Senior guard Chelsie Schweers added 17 points and juniors Kimmy Hopkins and Lauren Gural added 12 and 10 respectively.

Davis' 20-rebound performance was the first since Kelly White grabbed 20 vs. Peace in 2008. She hauled in 15 defensive rebounds and five on the offensive glass.

Today's game, much like the first matchup between the two teams, was a fast-paced and high-scoring contest. The Captains, after being held to a season-low 50 points in a loss to Averett on Saturday, came out and scored 46 in the first half against Ferrum.

CNU opened up a 12-point lead at the break, 46-34, primarily behind Moore's scoring. Moore had 18 at the break on 8-10 shooting with a pair of free-throws. Meanwhile, Schweers, leading the nation in scoring, was held to just eight first-half points, but was tremendous facilitating the offensive game, dishing seven assists in the first 20 minutes.

The Captains shot 57.6% in the first half on 19-33 shooting and took care of the basketball, turning the ball over just six times. Meanwhile, Ferrum was led by Kayla Goins with 10 points, as the Panthers shot 44.1% in the half on 15-34 shooting.

Ferrum cut the lead back to nine on a couple occasions in the second half, before CNU finally started to add to the lead in the final eight minutes. The Captains teamwork was the key, with 20 assists on the 36 made field goals in the game.

Moore would stay on fire in the second half, going 4-of-8 from the field and knocking down five more free-throws to finish with her new career-high. Schweers finished with a season-high nine assists, adding three steals, two blocks and four rebounds with her 17 points.

Ferrum also had four players in double figures, led by Shea Smith with 16 points. Tesla Akers had 15, followed by Kristen Keith with 14 and Kayla Goins added 12.

Christopher Newport will return home for the final two regular season games of the season next weekend. CNU will host Methodist on Friday, February 18 at 5:30 pm, followed by a huge USA South battle on Saturday, February 19 against Greensboro College at 4:00 pm.
