FERRUM, Va. –  Homestanding Ferrum College jumped all over Shenandoah University in a 77-48 USA South Conference women's basketball victory Saturday afternoon at Swartz Gymnasium.

Ferrum (15-7, 11-4 USA South) scored 10 straight points from the 15:08 to 10:30 marks of the first to pull away from the Hornets (11-11, 7-8) and claim a 19th straight victory in the longtime series between the two teams.  Shenandoah has not beaten the Panthers since the 2003-04 season.

The 10 straight points was part of a larger, 30-11 FC spurt to complete the first half.

The Ferrum lead was 38-17 at the half; senior Sierra Edwards had 12 of the Hornets points in that opening stanza.

The second half brought more of the same, as the Panthers hit on half of their attempts (14 of 28) from the field on their way to the 29-point victory.

Edwards was the only SU player in double figures – she finished with 20 points and his now 21 away from becoming the 16th woman in school history to score 1000 in her career.

Kristen Keith paced the victors with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Ferrum held a 44-28 advantage on the glass.

Shenandoah completes this road trip with a 2 p.m. game at Averett tomorrow.
