Danielle Duncan and Nikki Wilborn led Greensboro College to a 75-47 win over NC Wesleyan on Wednesday night. Wilborn had a triple-double (16 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals) and Duncan had game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds for The Pride (22-0, 15-0). Box score
With the win, GC set a new program record with 22 straight wins. The women surpassed the 2008-09 team that had 21 consecutive victories. Additionally, The Pride tied the NCAA Division III record for win improvement (+14). The club matched the 2007 Lebanon Valley team with 14 more wins than its previous year. GC had eight victories last year.
Duncan was 7-15 from the field and made 11-13 free throws. She needs just one more free throw to break her Pride single season record of 169. Wilborn made three 3-pointers and 5-6 free throws. She had six assists, which left her four short of a quadruple-double.
Led by Wilborn, Greensboro had 24 steals and forced 32 Bishop turnovers. The Pride had 15 miscues. GC made 26-23 free throws to 16-33 for the visitors.
Freshman Chevena Pickard added 11 points for The Pride.
The home team led 45-23 at the break. The Pride held the Bishops without a field goal for 10:20. The NCWC dry spell covered the last 8:36 of the first half and the beginning 1:44 of the final period.
Samantha Urqhart paced NC Wesleyan (4-17, 2-13) with 15 points.
GC hosts Peace College on Sunday at 2 p.m. It's senior day and Nikki Wilborn will be recognized prior to the game.
