Lady Choctaws Topple LeTourneau, 68-46

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College women's basketball team had four players score in double-figures on their way to a 68-46 win over LeTourneau University on Thursday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The Lady Choctaws won their third straight game after dropping three in-a-row and losing five of their previous six.

LeTourneau kept the game close over the first 11 minutes, tying the score at 18 with 9:04 remaining on a layup by Megan McGuire.  The Lady Choctaws proceeded to end the half on a 17-4 run to claim a 13-point advantage.

In the second half, MC jumped out to their largest lead of the game with 13:17 to go at 52-29 on a jumper  by senior Jennifer Wair.  The YellowJackets cut the lead down to 10, but the Lady Choctaws ran away in the final minutes for the 22-point victory.

Senior Jalessa Taylor led MC with 16 points and seven rebounds.  Wair and sophomore Elizabeth Brooks each added 15 points, while junior Brigit Taylor poured in 11.  Brooks made 3-4 three-pointers in the game.

LeTourneau was led by McGuire with 15 points on 4-6 shooting from the floor and 6-8 shooting from the foul line.  De'Shante Thomas tallied nine points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action in the "Golden Dome" on Saturday afternoon when they host Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m.
