SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Not even a 60-minute delay caused by a power outage could keep Kathryn Stockbower from history.

Thanks to a 14-point, 14-rebound performance, the senior became the all-time leading rebounder in Swarthmore women's basketball history (1,264) and tied the NCAA Division III record for career double-doubles (79).  Unfortunately, it wasn't enough  to propel the Garnet (12-8, 8-7) to victory, as  visiting Muhlenberg (14-5, 10-4) used a 15-0 run during the second-half to defeat Swarthmore 76-63 on Wednesday evening.

Stockbower broke 2002 graduate Heather Kile's previous record of 1,263 rebounds with her board with under four minutes to play. She ties Julie Anderson (1998) of Johns Hopkins for the NCAA Division III record for double-doubles with 79. Stockbower has a chance to break Anderson's record against her alma mater on Saturday, when the Garnet travel to Baltimore to face the Blue Jays.

Alita Zabrecky scored a game-high 21 points for the Mules, who rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit.

Junior Nicole Rizzo added 13 points for Swarthmore, which hit eight three-pointers but were undone by 28 turnovers.

The Mules led 10-8 with 13:27 left in the first half when the power suddenly went out in Tarble Pavilion. The outage - which was campus-wide - lasted for over an hour, but when play resumed, Swarthmore returned to the court like a team possessed. From the resumption of play, Swarthmore went on a 18-6 run over the next six minutes, highlighted by back-to-back-to-back three pointers over a 50-second span. A jumper from Stockbower brought the Garnet lead to 26-16 with 7:47 remaining in the half.

Down double-digits, the Mules responded with a run of their own, using an 11-3 rally to get back into the contest. Capitalizing on 12 first-half turnovers from Swat, Muhlenberg tied the game just before the break on a jumper from Kelly McKeon with 41 seconds to play. The teams entered the locker room deadlocked 36-36.

The game remained close for the opening five minutes of the second half before Muhlenberg went on its decisive 15-0 beginning at the 15:18 mark to take control of the game. Fueled by five points from Zabrecky, four points from Shelia Cook, and a full-court press that caused the Garnet headaches, the Mules suddenly found themselves with a 57-45 advantage with 10:50 to play.

From there, Swarthmore could only get to within eight points of the lead for the rest of the contest, as Muhlenberg cruised to the 76-63 win.

The Mules finished with a significant 38-20 edge in points scored in the paint.

Senior Summer Miller-Walfish finished with three blocks. Freshman Katie Lytle contributed with six points and five rebounds.

Swarthmore returns to action on Saturday with a trip to first place Johns Hopkins. Action is slated for 3:00 p.m.
