OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Already Wesley College's all-time leading shot blocker, senior Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) added another record as she became the Wolverines all-time leading rebounder in a 50-44 win over Stevenson.
Owens grabbed 15 rebounds in the game to pass Robin Smith in the record and finished the evening with 962 career boards. The forward added a game-high 14 points in the game for good measure.
The score was tied at 14-14 with 10:46 left in the first half, but Wesley (10-10, 5-6 CAC) allowed just two more points the rest of the half to claim a 27-16 lead at the break.
The Wolverines lead by 18 after a bucket by Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) with 13:56 to play, 38-20. The Mustangs (2-18, 1-11 CAC) held tough on their home floor, however, running off the next 10 points to cut it single digits four and a half minutes later.
Stevenson trimmed the lead six points on three occasions the rest of the way, but that was as close as Wesley would allow them to get.
In addition to her seventh double-double of the year, Owens added a pair of blocks and two steals.
Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) scored 11 points and had four assists, while Miller added 10 points and three steals.
