FARMINGTON -- Bowdoin College ran past the University of Maine at Farmington with a 36-1 blitz in the opening half en route to a 100-28 rout over the Beavers in non-conference women's basketball action at Dearborn Gymnasium tonight.

The Beavers (7-11) are scheduled to host Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference action Friday (men at 5:30 p.m., women to follow). The Polar Bears (16-4) are slated to host Williams College Friday at 8 p.m.

Ellery Gould (East Sandwich, Mass.) led six Bowdoin players in double figures with 15 points off the bench. Alexa Barry (Rindge, N.H.) notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the victory, while Allie Piscina (Pelham, N.Y.) pitched in with 13 points, Katie Bergeron (Bradley, Maine) provided 12 points and Kaitlin Donahoe (Amherst, N.Y.) and Colleen Sweeney (Danbury, Conn.) each added 10 points. Jill Henrikson (Bath, Maine) led Bowdoin with five assists as the Polar Bears passed out 25 assists to just four turnovers.

The Polar Bears reached 100 points for the third time in program history and the first since 1978. The point total was the highest allowed by the Beavers since a 104-96 overtime loss at Thomas College on Jan. 30, 2002.

Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) tallied 11 points, all in the first half, for the Beavers.

Henrikson made five steals for Bowdoin and Bergeron had four swipes as Farmington was stifled by the Polar Bears with a 19.6 percent (9-46) night from the field and 31 turnovers.

A Norton layup with 17:43 left in the first half made the score 8-4 in favor of the Polar Bears and was Farmington's only field goal for nearly 15 minutes as Bowdoin pressed the Beavers in 17 turnovers to rip off a 36-1 run. Twenty of the points came off Farmington miscues.

Bergeron, Gould and Sweeney each scored seven points in the stretch, only blemished by a Rachel Clement (Gray, Maine) free throw, to open a 44-5 advantage with 4:27 left in the half. Norton ended the Beavers' offensive dormancy with a layup at 2:59, but Farmington went into intermission in a 55-14 hole.

Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) opened the second half with a basket for the Beavers, but the Polar Bears tallied the next 13 points on their way to the 100-28 victory.
