St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team remained in fifth place in the Capital Athletic Conference standings after dropping a 69-47 decision to University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.

Mary Washington (13-5, 9-1 CAC) extends its win streak to seven straight as junior guard Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va./Annandale) recorded a double-double on game-bests of 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Fellow classmates Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and Rachel Martin (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) also scored in double digits for the Eagles with 16 and 11, respectively.

The Seahawks (9-9, 5-5 CAC) came out strong at start of the first half and it seemed that St. Mary's was on its way to a better outing than its 65-42 loss at Mary Washington on January 12.  After Mary Washington opened up with an 11-6 run, the Seahawks used back-to-back three-pointers from senior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie) and first-year guard Raven Owens (Annapolis, Md./Severn) to boast their first and only lead of the game at 11:00.

But after Roberts finished a jumper for a 24-24 knot in the game at 6:50, the game began to slip away as Mary Washington closed out the half on a 19-2 run en route to a 43-26 halftime advantage.  McRae led all scorers with 13.

The Eagles dominated the glass with a 48-26 margin and their 20 offensive boards led to 29 second chance points.

Roberts and Owens both with eight points and two rebounds for St. Mary's while sophomore guard Jasmine Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and first-year forward Bridget Wilkins (Washington, D.C./Washington Waldorf) each pulled down four boards.

The Seahawks struggled from the free throw line, finishing only eight-of-18 after going a perfect 5-of-5 in the first half.

St. Mary's travels to Frederick this Monday, January 31 for a conference tilt against Hood College.  Tip-off is at 7:00 pm and the game will be played at Frederick Community College (7932 Opossumtown Pike).
