Wair, Taylor Lead Lady Choctaws to 81-61 Win Over UT-Tyler

TYLER, TX - The Mississippi College women's basketball team led from start to finish as they defeated the University of Texas at Tyler, 81-61, in the Herrington Patriot Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Choctaws jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never led by fewer than three points on their way to the 20-point win.  MC shot 52.2% (35-67) from the floor and outrebounded the Patriots, 47-24.

The Lady Choctaws won despite being handled at the free throw line.  The Patriots were 25-33 from the charity stripe, while MC only went 8-15.

Senior forward Jennifer Wair paced MC with 26 points and 13 rebounds as she tallied her sixth double-double of the season and her third in her last four games.  Wair went 11-21 from the floor and tallied eight offensive boards.

Senior forward Jalessa Taylor also recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Taylor went 9-15 from the floor.  Senior guard Randa Lee leads the ASC in assists per game and added to that total with seven helpers in the game.  Lee was the other double-figures scorer in the game with 13 points.

The Patriots were led by Lindsey Hausmann with 18 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor and 6-7 from the free throw line.  Afritina Anderson came off the bench to score 11 points, while Melissa Thomas and Paige Parrish were held to 10 points apiece.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they return home to face LeTourneau University at 5:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome".
