Greensboro, N.C. (1/29/11) -- Rebecca Bays and Nicci Moats both scored 21 points in Roanoke College's 85-77 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Guilford College Saturday afternoon. The pair led a balanced attack that saw all five Maroons' starters score in double digits.


The Maroons (11-4, 10-1 ODAC) closed an eight-point first half deficit in the final six minutes of the first half to trail the host Quakers (10-7, 6-6 ODAC) by only a single point at halftime. Guilford increased it's lead to four points early in the second half, but Bays hit three of Roanoke's first four shots of the half to keep the game close. Jordan Gholson's two free throws with 13:24 remaining in the second half broke the fifth and final tie of the game, which put the visitors up for good .


Roanoke's Moats grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while teammate Gholson added 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots.


Guilford's Jazlyn Gibbs led all scorers with a game-high 24 points in the losing effort. Gabby Oglesby notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a game-high five blocked shots.  She set the school record for blocks in a season (42) in today's game. Classmates Logan Terry and Kayla Adams chipped in 10 and 11 points, respectively.


The Quakers return to action Tuesday (2/1) on the road against ODAC-rival Randolph College in a 7:00 p.m. game.
