Schiedermayer leads Macalester over Bethel

Holly Schiedermayer (Jr., Waupaca, Wis.) posted career-high totals of 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Macalester past Bethel at the Leonard Center.  Jessica Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) added 14 points for the Scots.

 

Macalester led by a slim 31-30 margin at halftime.  The Scots were on top 37-36 four minutes into the second period when they began a 17-5 run to go up by 13 points at 54-41 at the midway point of the half.  The Royals got no closer than six points after that.

 

Schiedermayer went 9-for-14 from the floor and eight of her 12 rebounds were in the second half.  Rene, who was 7-for-8 from the foul line, also handed out three assists.  Kyanna Jones (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) also had three assists.  Audrey Mills (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) provided the Scots with seven points and seven boards.

 

The Scots led 16-5 in bench points, 15-10 in second chance points and 13-8 in points off turnovers.

 

Scottie Moats contributed 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Royals.  BU drops to 8-7 on the season and 6-6 in the MIAC.

 

Macalester has won three of its past four games (with the defeat being by two points at St. Thomas) and are now 5-11 overall, 5-8 in the MIAC.  Next up for the Scots is an MIAC contest Wednesday (Jan. 26) at St. Catherine.
