LYNCHBURG, Va. – Jazlyn Gibbs led three Quakers in double-figure scoring with 21 points in visiting Guilford College's 63-49 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Lynchburg College Saturday.
Gibbs made four of six three-pointers in the second half and scored 16 points in the final 20 minutes. She made a career-high five three-pointers in seven attempts and helped the Quakers (10-6, 6-5 ODAC) to their third straight win. Guilford shot a season-high 52.1 percent from the floor and held the Hornets to 32.7 percent field-goal shooting.
The Quakers' freshman post tandem of Morgan King and Gabby Oglesby combined for 28 points and 15 rebounds. The pair gave Guilford a 28-16 advantage in points in the paint. Oglesby scored 10 of her 16 points in the first half, which helped the Quakers to a 27-19 halftime lead.
Leah Bonuccelli's jumper pulled the Hornets (3-12, 3-7 ODAC) to within 42-38 with 9:03 left in regulation, but the Quakers answered with a 10-4 run to go up by 10 with 6:27 remaining. Guilford held Lynchburg scoreless for the final 3:59.
Courtney Brewer led Lynchburg with 12 points off the bench.
Guilford returns to action Saturday against visiting Roanoke College at 1:00 p.m.
