Big First Half Buries Knights

More news about: Drew

MADISON, N.J. (January 17, 2011) - The Rangers were able to open up a 12 point lead at the break and never looked back as the Rangers defeated Arcadia 60-37. Sophomore Dana Coronato (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) recorded her first career double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down 10 boards.

The Drew (8-7) defense held Arcadia (6-9) to just 37 points, the lowest by a Ranger opponent this season. The Knights shot a dismal 28 percent from the floor while going 2-16 from three-point land. The Rangers also won the turnover battle forcing 21 compared to Drew's 17.

After the Knights captured their first lead of the evening midway through the first half, the Rangers offense ignited and went 12-0 run in a two minute span. Nine of those points came off three-pointers while the other three came of the traditional three-point play as Jen Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) capped off the double-digit run with the hoop and the harm. Mateo once again served as the Ranger cataylst dishing off a game-high eight assists to go along with eight points.

Junior Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) put together another solid effort netting 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Jess Reid (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) captured high-rebounding honors as she snagged including two on the offensive glass.

The Rangers will hit the road on this weekend and look to get back into the Landmark Conference race with matchups against Susquehanna and Juniata. Action will tip-off on Friday night as the women play the nightcap in Susquehanna at 7:30.
