Taylor Leads Lady Choctaws Past Lady Tigers, 73-57

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College women's basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with a 73-57 win over East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon in A.E. Wood Coliseum.  Senior Jalessa Taylor paced MC with 21 points and eight rebounds in the victory over the Lady Tigers.

After Emily Leek-Roberson scored the first two points of the game for ETBU, the Lady Choctaws went on a 20-3 run to grab a lead they would never relinquish.

MC had a hot shooting night, going 26-49 (53.1%) and 17-22 (77.3%) from the free throw line.  The defense was stifling in the first half, only allowing the Lady Tigers to shoot 36.4% (12-33) from the floor.

Taylor led the way for the Lady Choctaws with 21 points on 9-13 shooting and had a team-high eight rebounds.  Senior Randa Lee tallied a season-high eight assists and went 6-6 from the free throw line in the victory.

Junior Brigit Taylor was the other Lady Choctaw in double-figures with 10 points.

Ashley Featherston led the Lady Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Brandace Latin was the only other ETBU player in double-figures with 12 points.

The Lady Tigers struggled from behind the three-point line, only making two of their 19 attempts. 

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they host Texas-Dallas at 5:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome".
