Plattsburgh scored the final six points of the game to hand the Oswego State women's basketball team a 46-42 loss Saturday afternoon in Oswego. The Lakers held a two-point lead with three minutes, but the Cardinals received four points from Kathleen Payne and two points from Lindsey Larivee to grab the win. With the loss, Oswego State dropped to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC, while Plattsburgh improved to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the league standings.

In a first half that saw both teams struggle offensively, the Lakers took a slim 19-18 lead into the locker room courtesy of a three-point basket by Kirsten Diglio. Meagan Stover poured in six of Oswego State's points during the frame.

Early in the second half, the Cardinals put together a 8-1 run over a five-minute span to gain their largest lead of the game at 32-25 with 12:31 to play. The Lakers immediately answered back with eight consecutive points on a three-point play by Kayla Ryan and a jumper and a trey by Lauren Nunziato to go ahead 33-32 at the midway point of the stanza.

The squads battled back and forth the rest of the way as the score was level at 42 points apiece with two minutes to play. Kathleen Payne scored the go-ahead layup, and assisted Lindsey Larivee's layup on the next Cardinal possession to make the score 46-42. Oswego State had opportunities to cut into the deficit in the final minute as Plattsburgh went 0-for-4 from the charity stripe, but the Lakers were unable to convert on the offensive end of the floor.

Ryan paced the Oswego State offense with 11 points off the bench with Colleen McCready adding eight points and eight boards. The Cardinals' Larivee led all scorers with 12 points, while Nora Campbell ended the contest with ten rebounds and six blocks.

The Lakers out-rebounded Plattsburgh, 48-43, but finished the game shooting 27.4 percent (17-of-62) from the floor compared to 33.9 percent (21-of-62) for the Cardinals.
