WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 24 Gallaudet University women's basketball team increased its winning streak to 13 games on Saturday afternoon as the Bison defeated Morrisville State College 56-41 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game at the Field House.
Gallaudet (13-0, 10-0 NEAC) received a complete effort as Coach Kevin Cook utilized his bench in both halves as four key reserves saw a lot of action. GU led 32-12 at the half. The Bison have now won nine straight games at home dating back to last season.
Senior forward/center Easter Faafiti (Pittsburg, Calif.) recorded her sixth straight double-double as she netted 14 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. The All-American also passed out three assists and came up with three steals. Fellow senior Nukeitra Hayes (Anderson, Ind.) matched Faafiti with a double-double of her own with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) was the other Bison to reach double figures as she scored 11 points in 19 minutes of action. Junior guard Andrea Amati (Frederick, Md.) grabbed a season-high nine rebounds while sophomore Katelyn Jurney (Tulsa, Okla.) set a new season-high mark with eight points to go with four boards coming off the bench.
Morrisville (2-10, 2-8) was paced by Nijee Scott's 17 points, five steals and four assists as she came off the bench for the Mustangs.
GU will host Cazenovia College tomorrow (Sunday, January 16) in a conference game slated to tip at 1 p.m.
