Oswego State Snaps Skid With 42-38 Win Over Potsdam

The Oswego State women's basketball team brought its six-game losing streak to a halt in a low-scoring 42-38 win against Potsdam Friday evening in Oswego. Despite being outrebounded, 47-38, the Lakers lifted their conference record above .500 at 3-2 and are 6-6 overall. The Bears fell to 1-4 in SUNYAC play and 2-10 overall.

Both teams got off to a rough start in the first half as they combined for 23 turnovers. Despite playing without two of its starters, Oswego State trailed just 20-15 at intermission.

Oswego State trailed by as many as six points at 25-19 after a Kaley Arsenault free throw in the second half. The Lakers leveled the contest behind eight straight layups by Meagan Stover, and took the lead for good with 10 minutes remaining when Kassie Kleine drilled one of her two three-pointers off the bench. Kleine and Lauren Nunziato both converted two key free throws each in the final 35 seconds to seal the Laker win.

Meagan Stover, who started in place of injured Kayla Ryan, responded with a career-high 16 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field. Colleen McCready grabbed ten boards and added five points. Potsdam was paced by 16 points from Aimee Kellicutt.

The Laker women return to action Saturday afternoon as they host Plattsburgh at 2 p.m.
