Alfred University women’s basketball team holds off Elmira, 65-62

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's basketball team beat visiting Elmira, 65-62, Tuesday evening at the McLane Center.

Freshman forward Grace Williamson scored 15 points and had eight rebounds and three blocks to pace the Saxons (5-7, 1-3 Empire 8). Senior point guard Lyndsay Murphy scored 13 points and had six assists, and junior guard Christina Jordan netted nine points, while picking up five boards and two assists. Senior forward Autumn McLain contributed a team-high nine rebounds and senior forward Lauren Sanford netted 13 points.

Becky Peterman scored 15 points, and Elizabeth Forrest scored 13 points, and had six assists to lead Elmira (2-10, 0-4 Empire 8). Darcy James chipped in with 11 points and five boards.

Alfred is next in action Friday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m., when they travel to take on Hartwick.
