VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Shawnee Lewis' game-high 18 points led four Marlins in double-figure scoring as Virginia Wesleyan College held on for a 74-66 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over Guilford College Saturday.

The Marlins (6-6, 4-3 ODAC) took advantage of 22 Guilford turnovers that led to 23 points and helped them overcome a 54-40 rebounding deficit. Kristen Blalock totaled 16 points and a game-best 12 boards for Virginia Wesleyan, which led by as many as 19 points with 14:34 to go.

As in Friday's eight-point loss at Randolph-Macon College, the Quakers (6-5, 2-4 ODAC) rallied in the second half. Freshman Kayla Adams (Rural Hall, N.C./North Forsyth) shot four-of-five from three-point range and scored 12 of her career-high 16 points in the second half. Teammate Jazlyn Gibbs (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford (USC-Aiken)) had a three-pointer and two free throws in a 7-0 run that made it a five-point game with 1:45 to play. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year.

The Marlins' Lewis made all eight free throws in the game, including six in the final 35 seconds to preserve the victory. Teammate Kerry Johnson added 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Kristina Jameson also scored 13 points and added five assists and three steals, both game highs.

The Quakers return home Tuesday (1/11) to host Randolph College at 7:00 p.m. in an ODAC game.
