Lady Choctaws Fall at McMurry, 51-43, for First Loss of Season

ABILENE, TX - The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped their first game of the 2010-11 season with a 51-43 loss at McMurry University on Thursday night in Kimbrell Arena.  The Lady Choctaws (11-1) turned the ball over 28 times in the defeat.

The game was ruled by defense and sloppy play in the first half as MC held McMurry to only one of their first 20 shots from the floor.  The Lady Choctaws turned the ball over 18 times in the first half to keep the game close.

McMurry used a 17-5 run to open the second half to take an 11-point lead at 31-20.  MC would cut the lead to as little as four but McMurry would hit clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

The Lady Choctaws were led by senior Jennifer Wair with 11 points and five rebounds.  Junior Brigit Taylor scored nine points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in the loss.

McMurry had three players in double-figures, led by Precious Williams with 12 points.  Keshia Collins tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday when they face Hardin-Simmons at 1:00 p.m.
