Hood Women Topple Stevenson, 62-45, to End Six-Game Skid

OWINGS MILLS, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (5-6, 1-4 CAC) defeated the Stevenson University Mustangs (0-11, 0-5 CAC), 62-45, for the Blazers' first Capital Athletic Conference victory of the season.

The Blazers downed the Mustangs for the second straight time and notched their highest scoring output in the series with Stevenson since Nov. 22, 2003. Hood also put an end to its six-game losing skid dating back to Nov. 28, 2010.

After a seesaw battle to start the first half, Hood snapped a 13-13 tie with a 10-0 scoring spurt to go up 23-13 with 7:35 left in the stanza. Briana White capped the run with a three-pointer off a feed from Allyson Lethbridge. Hood led 25-20 at halftime and never trailed again in the contest.

White finished with a game-high 16 points, including 12 in the first half. Lethbridge tallied 15 points and three steals while Dyanna Prater chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Hood also outrebounded the Mustangs, 47-34, led by Caitlyn Nixon's season-high seven boards.

The Blazers return home for the first time since Dec. 8 when they host Marymount University Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Odom Fitness Center.
