Bearcats Defeat DeSales, Salmon Scores Her 1,000th Career Point

The women's basketball team won for the fourth time in their last five games by defeating DeSales University, 69-64, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Megan Bouwensled the visiting Bearcats (8-3) with a double-double of 14 points (6-10 fg) and 11 rebounds, while Jessica Dulebarecorded 13 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Monique Salmonhad another solid all-around performance with 10 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals. During the game, with her first basket, she scored her 1,000th career point to become the ninth Baruch women's basketball player all-time to reach the thousand point milestone.

Folashade Akindemissed a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds.Camille Voitotadded eight points and six rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

The Bearcats shot only 38 percent (23-61), but used their defense (13 steals) to force their opponents into committing 18 turnovers.

Lori Lidlow led the Bulldogs of DeSales (6-5) with a game-high 20 points, five rebounds and four steals in 36 minutes of action. Colleen Gavin contributed 15 points and nine rebounds for the team from the Freedom Conference.

The women's basketball team will quickly return to action on Wednesday, January 5, with a 5:00 pm CUNYAC road contest at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
