ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (4-5, 0-4 CAC) came up on the short end of a 70-45 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the St. Mary's College Seahawks (6-3, 3-0 CAC) Saturday afternoon.
Hood struggled from the floor in the opening stanza, shooting just 22.2 percent (6-27) from the field and was unable to recover in the second half. After building a 32-15 halftime advantage, the Seahawks shot an even 50 percent from the field in the second half to remain unbeaten in the conference.
The Blazers were led by senior Allyson Lethbridge who drilled 4-of-6 from behind the arc for a game-high 14 points while classmate Kameran Evans tallied 13, one shy of her season-high. Hood was also plagued by turnovers, as the Seahawks forced the Blazers into 27 miscues on the afternoon.
All 12 Seahawks to check in to the game contributed to the scoring, led by Sophie Pruden's 13 off the bench.
Hood returns to action Dec. 18 at Rutgers-Camden for a 4 p.m. nonconference contest.
