Wheelock's Milton shares NECC Player of the Week nod behind two big performances

BOSTON, MA - Wheelock College women's basketball sophomore Keneisha Milton (Boston, MA/Wayland) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Co-Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Dec. 12. Milton became the first member of her program to be named player of the week in the NECC's three-year history, and the second to earn a weekly accolade.

Milton helped Wheelock begin its NECC slate at 2-0 by averaging 16.5 points, 15.5 rebounds - including 10.5 offensive - and 4.5 steals last week. During the Wildcats' 50-42 win over visiting Southern Vermont College on Tuesday, she scored the go-ahead hoop with 2:48 left while totaling 14 points, 15 rebounds - including 10 offensive - and seven steals. In a 53-51 victory at Bay Path College on Saturday, Milton tallied a career-high 19 points to go along with 16 boards, 11 of which came at the offensive end. She added two assists and two steals.

For the season, Milton has turned in three double-doubles in six games and paces Wheelock in scoring (9.5) and rebounding (10.3) while carrying a team-best 17 steals and six blocks. She is also second in field goal shooting and assists. In 30 career contests, she is already nearing 300 rebounds, with 289 thus far.

The Wildcats stand 2-4 overall entering their final game of the first semester, a 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday at 2010 NCAA Tournament qualifier Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
