CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Nationally-ranked Thomas More was too much for visiting Westminster College women's basketball team Saturday as the Titans lost 71-49 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game. The Titans fall to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the PAC, while the Saints, ranked No. 11 in the USA Today Division III Coaches' Poll, remains unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.
Freshman guard Gabby Holko tripled her previous career high by leading Westminster nine points, all coming on 3-4 shooting from 3-point range. Holko had six career points entering the game.
The Titan starters combined for just 17 points. Freshman guard Courtney Zitt came off the bench to score eight points. Senior guard Kaitlin McCarthy led the Westminster starters with seven points.
Westminster shot just 29.0 percent (20-69), compared to Thomas More at 45.0 percent (27-60).
Three Saints scored in double figures led by Chelsea Tolliver with 18 points on 7-11 shooting. Nicole Dickman bucketed 13 to go with six rebounds, while Katie Kees pointed 12 to go with a game-high seven rebounds.
Thomas More jumped to an 8-0 lead and never trailed by fewer than four points (10-6) before taking a 16-point, 35-19 lead at halftime. The Saints quickly went up by 20 a minute into the second half before capturing a 30-point, 63-33 lead with 5:53 remaining.
Westminster is off next week for final examinations before playing two games at the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout Dec. 20-22 vs. Salve Regina and Oswego State.
