The Millikin women's basketball team opened the 2010 Tri-Conference Tournament with a 68-60 win over Midwest Conference foe Illinois College on Dec. 10 at Millikin.  The Big Blue improve to 4-3 while the Lady Blues fall to 3-4.

            Millikin lead the entire game including holding a 41-33 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Millikin had the lead up to 13 on two different occasions, but Illinois College stayed in the game throughout.

            Millikin shot 45 percent from the field while the Lady Blues hit on 48 percent.

The Big Blue had a major advantage on the free throw line hitting on 18-24 while Illinois College was 7-11.  Millikin won the battle on the boards 35-24.

            Millikin got 24 points from Elise Wildman including 20 points in the first half.

Julia Robert had 13 points for the Big Blue.  Wildman and Olya Cholewick tied for team high seven rebounds.

            Illinois College got 23 points from Carrie Walberg and 22 from Rachel Macon.  Alex Gabriel led the Lady Blues with seven rebounds.

            The Midwest Conference and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will meet on Saturday as Illinois College takes on Fontbonne.

            College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Millikin will play Fontbonne on Sunday at 3 p.m.
