Trine (3-3) used a 23-5 run to overcome a bevy of turnovers as it turned the tide in a 53-36 victory over Muskingum (3-4) Tuesday night at Hershey Hall.
The Thunder hit just 20 percent of their shots, but hung around with a solid defensive effort that limited the Fightin' Muskies to just 21 percent shooting.
The Thunder also limited Muskie trio Oakley, Dobbins, and Nichols (who averaged more than 37 points per game) to six points combined in the first half. Trine shot 15 for 24 (62.5%) including 4-5 (83.3%) from the free throw line in the second half to turn as defensive battle into a blowout.
Trine got 10 points and 9 rebounds from Danielle Senf (Blanchardville, Wisc./Pecatonica) scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Sydney Spragg (Reading, Mich./Reading) also had 10 points and added six rebounds, three assists and a key block. The Muskies shot just 25.5% (13-of-51 from the field and three-of-18 from three point range) overall and coughed up 18 turnovers.
Trine never trailed in the game, but did overcome two ties.
The Thunder are back in action Friday hosting Wittenberg.
