Cougars Earn First Victory Over Westminster in School History

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 8, 2010) . . . The Chatham University women's basketball team came into tonight's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match-up against visiting Westminster College (PA) with a record of 0-8 against the Titans but earned their first victory tonight over their opponent in school history by a score of 60-50.

 

The game was close down the stretch with the score knotted at 48 points apiece with 3:34 left to play in regulation. Chatham would go on a 12-2 run, however, and secure their victory. Nine out of 10 of these 12 final points were from behind the charity stripe.

 

Senior Kayla Hilko (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) scored a season-high 22 points for the Cougars; 19 of her 22 points were scored in the second half, including nine in the final 3:34 of the game.

 

Senior Brittany Brown (Bellefontaine, OH/Bellefontaine) also finished in double figures for Chatham tonight. Brown scored 14 points and also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Hilko also finished with seven rebounds herself tonight in the win.

Chatham (4-5, 1-2) returns to action on Saturday, December 11th as they travel to Latrobe, PA to take on the Bearcats of St. Vincent College in a 6 pm PAC match-up.
