Wellstein's 3 lifts MSOE women's basketball to victory over Aurora

Junior guard Marguerite Wellstein nailed a three-pointer with six seconds left as the Raiders beat Aurora 67-65 Tuesday night in a NAC contest on the road. Wellstein also hit a shot from beyond the arc with a minute left in the game. She scored 21 points on the night to tie her career best output. Wellstein drained seven three-pointers in the game.

Sophomore forward Cate Scholfield scored 12 points while freshman Stephanie Haugen had a career-high 11 points off the bench. MSOE outrebounded the Spartans 47-38 led by junior center Carol Cayo who pulled down nine rebounds while scoring eight points. The Raiders doled out 16 assists with junior Kathleen Collingbourne recording five of those. 

The Raiders (3-2, 2-1 NAC) continue a busy week as they head back to Illinois Thursday to face Dominican in River Forest, Ill. at 7 p.m.
