DePauw Women Remain Perfect in SCAC Play with 68-37 Win over Rhodes

DePauw improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after a 68-37 win over visiting Rhodes. The Lynx dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.

The Tigers, ranked eighth in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches' Poll and 11th by D3hoops.com, never trailed on the way to their 56th straight home SCAC win. DePauw put together a 13-2 first-half run on the way to a 36-20 halftime advantage. Midway through the second half the Tigers led 47-30 and pulled away with a 10-2 stretch.

Kate Walker matched a career high with 15 points, while Lauren Goff added 10. Ellie Pearson hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the win and Katie Mathews dished out four assists.

Lakeya McGill and Amy Handelman each scored eight for the Lynx, while Sharwil Bell had six rebounds and McGill dished out three assists.

DePauw shot 41.2 percent for the game and held Rhodes to just 29.7 percent including 22.2 percent in the second half. The Tigers also held a 41-26 advantage on the boards and turned 18 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points.

The Tigers travel to Millikin on Wednesday, December 8, for a 7:30 p.m. CST contest. Rhodes travels to Rust for a 5:30 p.m. CST contest on Tuesday.
